해밀톤한국학교의 아이들은 사랑스럽습니다.

아이들을 얼마나 잘 가르치는 가는 얼마나 사랑하가의 문제라고

생각합니다. 저는 아이들을 볼 때마다, 풍족한 나라에서 부족함 없이

자라나는 아이들임에도 애잔한 마음이 듭니다. 이 애잔함을

이민 1세대가 차세대에게 가지는 사랑이라고 정의하고 싶습니다.

해밀톤한국학교에서는 한국어와 한국문화/역사, 미술과 동요를

정규과목으로가르치며, 창의적이고 다양한 특별활동을 개발, 실시합니다.

따뜻하고 역량있는 해밀톤의 교사들은 학교의 긍지이며,

사랑스러운 아이들은 학교의 자랑입니다.

큰 꿈을 짊어진 작은 학교, 바로 해밀톤한국학교입니다.

‘나는 누구인가?’ 라는 근본적인 화두의 해답에 진지하게

대응할 수 있는 한 방편이 해밀톤 한국학교에서 찾아질 수 있도록

아이들을 가르치겠습니다. 훗날 이 아이들이 커서 자랑스러운 일이 생길 때에도, 힘든 일이 생길 때에도, 해밀톤한국학교를 추억하면 긍지와 위안이 되는 학교로 기억되기를 희망합니다.

The students at HKS are adorable.

I believe the quality of our student’s education is dependent on how much the teachers love them. Everytime I look at the children, I feel sympathy for them despite their comfortable lives enriched with many opportunities here in America. I believe this sympathy I have for the kids signify the love that the first generation immigrants share with their children.

At HKS, we teach the Korean language and Korean culture as core subjects and we develop creative special activities for the students such as Korean art (i.e. paper folding) and traditional children’s songs. The students and our respected teachers are our pride. We are a school that upholds big dreams and envisions bright futures.

HKS will prepare and teach students to ask themselves “Who am I?” and seriously consider the fundamental topic of finding their identities. I hope that as they mature into adults, they’ll remember HKS as their pillar of comfort and pride through difficult times as well as through periods of success.
